A few Marinas in BC:
(please contact me for contributions, corrections, etc.)
Mosquito Creek Marina
Location: Foot of Forbes St., North Vancouver, BC
Phone:(604) 987-4113
Website:www.mosquitocreekmarina.com/
Comments: Run by Squamish Nation in North Van, the biggest marina in
Western Canada. It's a short hop to "open water" (English Bay), but
there's some wash from the seabus that goes pretty close by. Great
haulout facilities, chandlery and fuel dock on-site...
Lynwood Marina
Location: North Vancouver, BC (under Second Narrows Bridge)
Phone: (604) 985-1533
Website: lynnwoodmarina.com/
Comments: Nice marina, used to allow livaboards so has several quaint
houseboats. Good haulout facilities. About 5 miles to "open water",
and you need to request the railroad bridge be opened if you want to
go east in a sailboat.
Burrard Civic Marina
Location:Kits, under Burrard St. Bridge
Phone: (604) 733-5833
Website: www.city.vancouver.bc.ca/parks/info/marinas/#burrard
Comments: In False Creek, minutes from open water. Lots of
traffic in the summer, both on land and in water. Nice location, but
long waiting list last time I looked.
River Rock Casino Marina
Location:Richmond, under Oak St. Bridge
Phone:
Website:
Comments: Basically a Casino with marina attached. Poor
parking, marina open to wind, waves, and current, and subject to
silting. About 7 miles up the North Arm to "open water".
Captains Cove Marina
Location:Ladner, off River Road next to the boatlaunch
Phone: (617) 479-2440
Website: Captains Cove Marina
Comments: Good marina with haulout facilities. Excellent
parking with secure area for members. Has some current in the marina,
and much current in the river, especially during "freshet". Subject to
silting, with a bar about 3ft below chart datum. About 9 miles up the South Arm to "open water" (Sandheads).
