Oct 24, 2005:

This is where I just ramble on about whatever news I have concerning this website.

As you can see, the basic site is up, but I haven't set up the forum yet. I should be getting to that in a week or so. Then, beg for members so I won't be talking to myself, get some pics up in the ShowYerBoat area, list some marinas and boat launches, and we're good to go!

It's up and running, YAY! With 16 ... make that 17 members! Hope we can get some interesting discussions going. Still have to get ShowYerBoat set up, and a link from the forum BACK to the front page.

Membership up to 63, complete with a "Crewperson" ;)
Got the "back" link on the Forum, and now have pics in the ShowYerBoat page. Next step there is to make some kind of form people can use to upload their pics and descriptions.
I've separated "Marinas" and "Launch Ramps", and added a few ramps that I know of. Hopefully some people will have some pics of launch ramps.
Also, gotta get more sailors to sign up! ;)

Well, lots of things happened since the last "News" entry! The Great Jonboat Giveaway (where the winner hasn't been heard from since...), lots of members smelling of spam, some nice boat pics and stories.
I guess the most interesting News is that we're working on a Spring Rendezvous. It's going to be somewhere in the Gulf Islands, sometime in May. Check into the Forum for the latest news!

OK, the Site has been down for about a day - I "sublet" the space from my Lady, who has a commercial account with the host. She's getting more and more frustrated with them, and now this downtime has been pretty hard for both of us. She's looking for a new host. So... be prepared to lose BC Boatnet off and on for the next few weeks!
Elsewhere in the News, I've added a Crown 28 forum and fledgling website honouring this Fine Boat, and hope to find some fellow Crown 23/28/34 owners to swap stories, tips, etc.
Finally, the Rendezvous was a great success (measured by the fact that we won't be asked back to Telegraph Hbr any time soon! ;) ) and we're talking about a winter mini-Rendezvous at Silva Bay sometime.
Blue skies and Fair Winds!

Hope everybody had a GREAT Christmas and New Year!
Last thing we did in 2007 was move the server - we're now on a server right here in Richmond. There were a few days of "down time" but in general the move went very smoothly.
For the New Year, the biggest News is the planned BC Boatnet First Annual Silva Bay Winter Rendezvous (a free drink for the member who comes up with a good "shortname" for this event!). It will be in Silva Bay (hence the name...) and either Feb 9/10 or Feb 23/24, depending on the weather. It will be a great excuse to get those tarps off and head out in the Cold and Storm, to find a hot drink and friendly banter waiting at the destination!
The other thing planned for 2008 is to upgrade the Forum software, to reduce the number of spammers signing up - I have to clean out about 100 a week or so.
And of course the SUMMER Rendezvous (details still to be determined...)

So stay tuned, and Blue skies and Fair Winds! Back to Main Index
